Origin

Wagwan I am Ciara Pierre-Louis, the creator of Déjà Void. I am a 19 year old Haitian-Honduran-American, from Brooklyn, NewYork.

Growing up in a multicultural household, I was always taught to be proud of where I come from. Revolutionaries, great food and music, and family.

Every black experience is so different and diverse but we all are impacted by societal expectations within and outside our culture

Déjà- Already or previously

Void- Empty space or feeling of emptiness

Déjà Void represents this familiar emptiness in space that black women go through. The emptiness throughout time of being numb to society's projections and sometimes even numb to our self view of ourselves.

Throughout time, throughout space, throughout dimensions there are beings similarly to black women around the world who will not fully be understood. It's not society's job to understand. Society may learn, steal and disagree but will never understand what our lens truly is.

Each shirt in this collection can all be interpreted in different ways but they all have a shared understanding of the experience of a black woman in the world. Other people cannot wear our skin naturally or comfortably so I created Déjà Void, a skin for us to have.
